How a Simple Question from My Son Changed My Breathwork Practice

Have you ever experienced a moment so pure, so innocent, that it feels like the universe itself is conspiring to remind you of the beauty within?

That’s what happened to me when David, my five-year-old son, entered the room during one of my breathwork sessions. I was nearing the end of my regular breathwork practice, when my son walked in. He gave me a hug and said, “Is your Little Kristy happy?”

In those simple words, I felt a wave of emotions surfacing. It was as if David, in his wisdom, had become a guardian for my inner child.  He then told me, “Mom both Shaun and I carry Little Kristy inside us because we came from you”

David then started transforming the room into a sanctuary. He piled up pillows and blankets to form a cocoon of safety around me. He brought me a book, my favorite rock, and an eye pillow – each item carried a profound meaning, a symbolic gesture toward the well-being of Little Kristy.

I felt a deep connection not only to my son but to the little girl within me who had longed for acknowledgment. In that moment, David held space for my inner child, creating a bridge between generations. A timeless cycle of love and healing.

As I reflect on this tender moment with David, it becomes clear that a simple question can indeed be a catalyst for profound transformation. His question, "Is your Little Kristy happy?" not only stirred emotions but also served as a doorway into a realm where a shared experience paved the way for healing and connection.

I am grateful for David’s curiosity and compassion, for his ability to see beyond the surface and touch the essence of who I am. His simple question, “Is your Little Kristy happy?” has become a mantra for me, a way to check in with myself and honor my inner child.

In my work with clients, we often integrate somatic exploration with insightful inquiries, using techniques similar to David simple question. This approach proves to be a profound way to tap into the body's wisdom and facilitate healing journeys.

I hope this story inspires you to try breathwork for yourself, to discover its benefits and joys.

And I hope you also find someone who asks you the right question, the one that opens your heart and makes you smile.
